It was on 3rd November 2015 when together with voestalpine and the Rail Cargo Group we officially implemented the new coke logistics system for voestalpine in Donawitz.
The cooperative development of voestalpine, the Rail Cargo Group and Innofreight guarantees a future-proof supply of raw materials for both blast furnaces in voeastalpine’s location in Donawitz/Leoben.
Thanks to the Rail Cargo Group’s exceptionally light container platform wagons combined with Innofreight’s Montainer system, the load per block train has been increased by around 30%. The container unloading machine ensures the process reliability during the winter period, also at very low temperatures, and constitutes a significant improvement in occupational safety during the unloading process.
The formal event during which the first official unloading took place was held by Franz Kainersdorfer, Member of the Management Board of voestalpine AG and Head of the Metal Engineering Division of voestalpine Group, Christian Kern, Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO) of ÖBB-Holding AG, Jörg Leichtfried, provincial government’s Councillor for transport (Landesrat) and Bernhard Grentner, General Manager of Innofreight.
We would like thank voestalpine, the Rail Cargo Group and all our partners in this project for the successful cooperation, and all the participants for attending this event.
