Major accolade at InnoTrans 2026: Innofreight was honored with the ERCI Innovation Award in the “Best Large Company” category for the InnoBogie. The award underscores the innovative strength of the bogie, which was developed in just 22 months and impresses with its lightweight construction, high quality, reduced noise levels, and increased payload capacity.

From September 22 to 25, 2026, Berlin once again became the center of the international rail industry. The 15th InnoTrans set new records: 3,170 exhibitors from 59 countries presented their latest technologies and solutions for the mobility of the future in 42 halls as well as on the outdoor and track areas. The award ceremony hosted by the ERCI European Railway Clusters Initiative ASBL demonstrated that Innofreight is playing a key role in shaping this future. At InnoTrans 2026, Innofreight was honored with the ERCI Innovation Award in the “Best Large Enterprise” category for the InnoBogie. At this high-profile trade show—where a total of 180 world premieres and 113 exhibited vehicles from 17 countries underscored the industry’s tremendous innovative strength—Innofreight once again made a splash.

Developed in just 22 months and in service on the European rail network since mid-2025, the InnoBogie—manufactured by Innoduler Rail and InnoWay Trieste—marks the next milestone just a few weeks after the 1,000th bogie was installed. The InnoBogie—manufactured using lightweight construction and nominated by the ACstyria Mobility Cluster—impressed the jury in several ways, which is why Project Manager Hartmut Maier was ultimately presented with the prestigious award:

• Intelligently engineered lightweight construction for 250 kilograms more payload per bogie or 500 kilograms per four-axle railcar
• Noticeably reduced wear, less noise, and lower energy consumption
• Consistent, top-quality results through fully automated production using state-of-the-art welding robots

All these advantages ensure that the InnoBogie, installed in the InnoWaggon, is being used in an increasing number of railcar types, industries and countries and will continue to tap into new markets in 2027. Finally, the multifunctional InnoBogie is UIC-compatible and, thanks to its modular bogie frame, will serve as a high-performance foundation for all standard European track gauges in the future, further revolutionizing rail freight transport and setting new milestones.
