20,000 tons of quicklime from Peggau to Košice

Intercal is relying on rail to connect its locations even more closely. From Peggau in Styria, Innofreight is now working with Rail Cargo Austria to transport 20,000 tons of quicklime per year to Košice in Slovakia.

Winning the VCÖ award was a milestone in the history of Innofreight and InnoRiedel – and also served as the starting signal for further promising partnerships, including the one with Intercal. From Peggau in Styria, Innofreight is now working with Rail Cargo Austria to transport 20,000 tons of quicklime per year to Košice in Slovakia. While the trucks are loaded via four roof hatches, unloading takes place directly on the track using newly designed side flaps. This is where the 22.5 ft MonTainer comes into its own, protecting the valuable raw material from moisture and also making work processes much more efficient. Together with the CityLogistics for bulk goods and the CemTainer for cement, the MonTainer forms a powerful trio for intermodal transport that can be combined with the InnoWaggon as required.

The efficient interaction of rail, truck, and various superstructures supports the building materials industry in shifting its various goods from road to rail. At the same time, intermodal transport enables a functioning circular economy and increases the range to connect different locations and open up new markets.
