Innofreight sets course for growth

Styrian rail logistics company Innofreight hosted its first “Meet the InnoWorld” event, where it introduced the newest member of the group: Together with Czech railway company CityRail, Innofreight is pushing ahead with its role as a full-service provider. At the same time, new projects with Intercal and Sappi are ensuring further growth.

Experience innovation – this was the motto of the three-day event at InnoPark in Bruck, which was all about exchange and vision. During “Meet the InnoWorld,” employees from Bruck and several European countries, as well as high-profile customers, had the opportunity to learn about Innofreight’s latest products. These included containers and superstructures for biomass, wood, DRI, hydrogen, cement, finished products, lime, gypsum, and fertilizer. On Wednesday evening, Styrian Transport Minister Claudia Holzer was also impressed by the constantly growing range of more than 40 different superstructures and learned about InnoWorld’s latest projects, including the intensive cooperation with the Czech railway company CityRail, the transport of quicklime for Intercal, and the new biomass trains for Papierholz Austria and Sappi.

The desire of numerous companies to make their entire logistics chain sustainable – often in the form of a functioning circular economy – is providing additional impetus for growth within InnoWorld. This applies to the steel industry, where scrap is increasingly being used to manufacture new products, as well as to the building materials industry. There, intermodal transport – i.e., the combination of rail and truck – is becoming increasingly important. The CemTainer, a specially developed container, will be used in the construction of the Brenner Base Tunnel starting in November. Other companies are focusing on electric trucks, where the successful collaboration with Knauf has set new standards and laid the foundation for promising new partnerships.
